Personal Lines Account Manager - Saginaw, MI

Location:  Saginaw, MI

Emil Rummel Agency, Inc. is continually growing! We are seeking a full-time Personal Lines Account Manager to join our team in the Saginaw office. This position is responsible for making a positive and professional impression on people who call and/or visit our agency – we take pride in building, nurturing, and retaining client relationships. Account Managers provide comprehensive service to our Personal Lines clients by obtaining, maintaining, expanding, and servicing accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming inquiries from clients via phone calls, email, or fax.
  • Process information as outlined in PL Procedures Manual meeting insurance company requirements, agency coverage standards, and proper documentation in the agency computer system.
  • Obtain updated contact information on every contact including address, phone numbers, and email addresses. Document updated information in the agency computer system and other systems as needed.
  • Review coverage and premiums, endorse, re-quote, up-sell, and account round existing renewal policies.
  • Provide information to banks, mortgagees, and car dealers as requested by insureds.
  • Process and issue new policies for insureds. May include gathering information on appropriate forms, preparing quotes, obtaining signed applications, collecting down payments, and transmitting new policy information to insurance companies.
  • Receive claim information from insureds and advise of coverage availability and future policy implications of claim submission. Assist policyholders in the resolution of claim if issues arise in the settlement.
  • Process policy cancellations as requested by the insured following PL Manual procedures. Determine the reason for cancellation and document in the computer as outlined in PL workflow.
  • Communicate underwriting requirements for continued insurance as outlined by insurance companies. Work with insureds to resolve underwriting issues and continue coverage with the best possible policy protections.
  • Obtain referral prospects from existing clients. Refer to appropriate staff members for contact.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Michigan agent’s license and a CISR designation.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Appropriate State license(s) preferred.
  • 2+ year insurance experience, personal lines experience preferred.
  • Two-year associate college degree or related experience at an agency or carrier.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and self-direction.

Commercial Lines Account Manager

Emil Rummel Agency, Inc. is seeking a full-time Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our growing team in the Frankenmuth office. This position is responsible for making a positive and professional impression on people who call and/or visit our agency. Account Managers provide comprehensive service to our Commercial Lines clients by obtaining, maintaining, expanding, and servicing accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Producers’ sales efforts by developing complete submissions on new and renewal business and obtain quotes in conjunction with agency marketing procedures.
  • Perform annual review and risk exposure analysis of renewal policies for proper coverage, incorporating information obtained from the client and/or Producer.
  • Maintain agency management system client files and ensure proper documentation, by processing all policies, endorsement changes, invoices, binders, certificates of insurance, documentation, activities, etc., according to agency procedures, and within agency timelines.
  • Maintain control of renewal expiration lists, binders, audits, and aged receivables in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Respond to client calls, inquiries, e-mails, mail, and company requests in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Process claim acknowledgments; update activity and claim detail in our Agency Management System, attach acknowledgment, and follow up with insured.
  • Review all items to be processed, to ensure items were received as ordered.
  • Prepare billing following the agency’s credit and collections policies.
  • Process daily mail.
  • Participate in courses for insurance skills and CE credits.
  • Maintain current knowledge of underwriting requirements of carriers.
  • Keep current with industry trends by reading appropriate journals and company bulletins.
  • Participate in any special projects at management’s request.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Appropriate State license(s).
  • 2+ years of commercial lines experience required.
  • Completion of CISR or currently enrolled in ARM, AU, or CPCU program.
  • Two-year associate college degree required; four-year college degree preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of all lines of commercial insurance, including sophisticated and less common coverages, especially those products represented through the agency.
  • Thorough knowledge of brokerage operations including claims handling, procedures,
  • commercial lines rating, agency management system, and applicable insurance laws/codes.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and risk management techniques.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation, self-direction and possess a positive team-oriented attitude.
